2008 BA of the Year Selected!
Written by Dave Albright

BA of the YearAfter a long selection process the BA Collective Panel has chosen the 2008 BA of the Year. The panel evaluated numerous Business Analysts that were nominated from large and small successful organizations across the United States. As announced at the September 11th 2008 IIBA MSP chapter meeting, Rhonda Ross of the Schwan Food Company has been named the 2008 BA of the Year. The BA Collective Panel determined that Rhonda was the best candidate by the following nomination email from Sheryl LaRock, a fellow Business Analyst at Schwan:

"We are nominating Rhonda Ross of the Schwan Food Company for BA of the Year. Rhonda has been an employee of the Schwan organization for 25 years and has been in the position of business analyst for the past 5 years. She has most recently been a member and then leader of our newly formed Analyst Center of Excellence. Along with this there are several initiatives that Rhonda has been an integral part of:

  • Adaptation of our processes to include Use Cases for documenting business requirements.
  • Served as an internal instructor for training sessions on Use Cases to other analysts and members of our IT community.
  • Worked with a new requirements repository tool.
  • Led discussions with SQA leads to work through issues and determine the best practices and standards for our IT teams.
  • Key player on the team which outlined requirements documentation and other best practices for data warehouse projects.
  • Planning group activities for our business analysts.
  • Promoting external networking opportunities within our department.
  • Mentoring other team members in the analyst role.

In addition to the initiatives she takes on within the IT organization, she consistently takes on the larger business projects with the company and leads them to completion. She is well respected by her teammates and throughout the business areas of Schwan. She is constantly requested to be placed on these top priority projects by her customers as her in-depth knowledge of many of the areas of the business processes make her a very valuable asset. Her ability to lead teams and drive requirements to completion are just a few of her top strengths. Rhonda is always looking for ways to improve internal BA processes so that the whole BA organization within Schwan can become more efficient and excel at their jobs. These are the reasons we feel that Rhonda is deserving of the BA of the Year and we appreciate your consideration of her for such a prestigious award."

Rhonda was present at the IIBA MSP chapter meeting to receive her BA of the Year plaque from the BA Collective. Tim Anderson, a Schwan's Business Analyst who helped to nominate Rhonda, read the nomination email at the meeting (as Sheryl could not make the meeting).

The inspirational work and devotion to her role as a Business Analyst make Rhonda truly deserving of the BA of the Year award. The BA Collective would like to congratulate Rhonda once again for being the 2008 BA of the Year!
